Universum Bremen

The Universum Bremen is a science museum in Bremen, Germany. Visitors are encouraged to interact with most of the approximately 250 exhibits. It receives on average 450,000 visitors annually. The Universum Bremen opened in September 2000 near to the University of Bremen, Germany. Covering over 4,000 m² the exhibition contains exhibits related to one of the three topics: mankind, earth and the cosmos. The science center building, with its 40,000 stainless steel scales, resembles a mixture between a whale and mussel. It was designed by the Bremen architect Thomas Klumpp.

Universum Bremen offers countless opportunities and possibilities: in the Science Center visitors can visit permanent exhibitions on mankind, earth and the cosmos, but will find them different each time they visit, or learn about a completely new topic by visiting one of the exciting, temporary special exhibitions held inside the SchauBox. Intrepid explorers can explore to their heart’s content at Universum® Bremen, either indoors when the weather is bad, or outdoors in the EntdeckerPark when the weather is more favourable. Energetic visitors can climb the 27-metre-high Turm der Lüfte, increasing their knowledge inside and enjoying the views outside, while those who fancy a bit of mental gymnastics can take part in the wide-ranging programme of events at the DenkArena and Forum. Keep your curiosity alive!

From 03.11.2014 – 06.03.2015 the permanent exhibition is under reconstruction! During this period you can only visit our special exhibition DECIDE and the EntdeckerPark. Please note that the special exhibition is only in German and not in English!
